The ability to produce photorealistic visualizations of numerical simulations of mechanical processes is a great asset in development and evaluation of image-based optical measurement methods. The open-source software Blender is well established as one of the most powerful 3D visualization tools. Based completely on the Python programming language, it also enables a highly automated work process. The goal of this thesis is to explore the possibility of using Blender to set up synthetic 3D experiments, based on the results of numeric mechanical simulations, to produce visualizations suitable for evaluation of state-of-the-art image-based measurement methods.
