Damping of a specific eigenshape of a 3D printed metamaterial

Abstract
The damping of the structure has a significant impact on its dynamic response in the presence of ambient vibrations. By using metamaterials (schwarzites, chiral, auxectic structures), the damping of the mechanical component can be adapted to the actual loads from the environment and attenuate the vibrations in a certain frequency band. The goal of the final thesis is the production and evaluation of a simple 3D printed metastructure (beam, plate), which is made of two different viscoelastic materials and whose damping properties are adapted to the effective damping of a specific shape.
