After 25 years of leadership by
Professor Miha Boltežar, the Ladisk lab has named a new head:
Professor Janko Slavič.
Janko Slavič is a Full Professor of Mechanics and Vice-Dean for Research and International Relations at the Faculty of Mechanical Engineering, University of Ljubljana (FME UL). He has been with Ladisk at FME UL since 2001. He has held various academic positions and has been a full professor since 2018. He has published more than 60 Q1 peer-reviewed scientific journal articles, one scientific monograph, and three textbooks (in Slovenian). Prof. Slavič has supervised 18 completed PhD projects and has published numerous scientific papers and books.
His research interests include vibration fatigue, image-based experimental modal analysis, open-source-based research, and 3D printing of sensors.
He is also an Associate Editor with
MSSP and
IJMS. Dr. Slavič is the president of
IFToMM MO Slovenia. From 2019 to 2023, he was the President of the Slovenian Society of Mechanics. With the 2020
Nature Methods publication, he is one of the most cited researchers at the University of Ljubljana.
The other full professors in the Ladisk group are:
- Professor Gregor Čepon, whose interests include dynamical substructuring, machine learning, and multibody dynamics.

Additionally,
the Ladisk group has two Assistant Professors and six PhD researchers/teaching assistants. The Ladisk group currently employs 7 PhD students, and educates 4 associated PhD students.
The LADISK group is actively involved in a number of
research projects, both national and international. The group also collaborates with various
industrial partners.
